USA TODAY NEW ORLEANS  — A judge has denied actor Brad Pitt’s request to be taken off a lawsuit that says his Make it Right Foundation built shabby homes in the New Orleans area that was hit hardest by Hurricane Katrina. Pitt and other foundation directors asked the court to remove them from the lawsuit, saying they weren’t personally responsible for the construction. Two homeowners filed the suit. Their attorney, Ron Austin, says the homes built by the foundation in the Lower Ninth Ward have infrastructural issues and residents have reported being sick. SEATTLE (WTHR) — After indefinitely closing operating rooms over air quality concerns, Seattle Children’s Hospital has confirmed one patient died and five others were sickened due to a mold infection found in an operating room. The hospital said the death and other illness happened in the last two years, according to KING5. Three patients, including the one who died, contracted the infection in 2018. The other three developed the infections this year. “We are deeply saddened that one of our patients died after developing an Aspergillus infection in 2018,” the hospital said. “We want to reiterate that the risk of developing an infection for patients is very low.” The hospital said the patients who got the infection were at a heightened risk because of the type of operations the got done.
