Remember the unnamed small Daihatsu crossover we covered at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show? Well, it has a name now, and it’s dubbed the Rocky. Some of you might know the name although we’re more familiar with its alternate moniker, the Feroza. Yes folks, the 2020 Daihatsu Rocky is, essentially, the Feroza reborn. For those expecting a small, rugged 4×4 that can match more powerful rigs, you might be disappointed. As we mentioned before, it’s a crossover now so there’s no ladder frame chassis, or even four-wheel drive in the first place. The modern day Feroza is more high-riding hatchback than river-crossing trekker. If anything, the Rocky seems to have taken a page from the Suzuki Vitara. If you recall, the Vitara was a subcompact 4×4 that can take on trails with the bigger SUVs. Now, it’s become a crossover that’s more car-like than truck-like. Judging by the specs, it’s exactly what’s happened here. The new Rocky comes standard with front-wheel drive and it’s powered by a 1.0-liter engine that’s good for 98 PS and 140 Nm of torque.
